What I want and can't find on the web or at Staples is a software program that allows me to set up my own general journal, make my own complete entries, then for it to post them to the relevant general ledger accounts I have set up in the program, then at period end provide a trial balance and if ok for me provide a balance sheet and income statement. I'm a retired auditor & it seems I can only get a pre-packaged system, unadjustable.

I was disappointed that what was sent was not what was represented. The "30-day" trial is of no value if you cripple it so as to give false reports.

Also, I need something that allows for multiple tracking of income, in much the same way as expenses are tracked.

So I simply removed it and am still looking for something that will do what I could do well years ago with a simple flat-file database called File Express.

Just What I Needed ...

to keep track of my rescue expenses vs. donations -- although depressing to see just how much in the hole I am

The Sort Vendor names button doesn't seem to work, but I was able to sort the vendor names by selecting them and then using the usual sort.

I also get an error when I click on the Show Calendar button.

The error is "Can't Find Project or Library"

Easy to Use

There was no installation involved. I just opened the spreadsheet in Excel and everything was there. After I configured the DATA page with my company information, it was easy to add my expenses for each month. The single report page is a little difficult to read, since there is so much printing on the page, but I like having an entire year on one page. Of course, once I figured out that all I had to do was change the print option in Excel, I could print any size report I needed. My accountant loves this. Recommend it to anyone who only needs to organize their income and expenses for tax time.

Easy to use.

This spreadsheet does not appear to compete with regular accounting software, but performs a simple, yet valuable function-it organized income and expenses. It is a simple way to organize expenses to prepare for submitting us tax form schedule c (self-employed income). Having expenses organized in this manner makes it a no-brainer to complete this tax form. The spreadsheet is free to try and includes a money-back guarantee after purchase, so we had nothing to loose to try it. Great product. Will save hours of frustration at tax time.

Agree with this assessment. The intent was to provide a product that makes it easier for a small business owner in the United States to complete a Schedule C at tax time. Additionally, the spreadsheet includes the ability to modify for other countries, including starting tax year in the middle of the calendar year.
